Renowned creator and Japanese artist, Katsuhiro Otomo, known for his work as a manga artist and film director, is currently releasing his comprehensive collection ‘OTOMO THE COMPLETE WORKS’ (Kodansha), which he is producing himself.

As part of this first phase, related publications were released for the 1988 theatrical animated film ‘AKIRA,’ which spans multiple volumes. The cel exhibition of ‘AKIRA,’ held in Tokyo (ended on August 31), received an overwhelming response with all-day tickets sold out and many voices expressing the desire to see it again, saying they couldn’t get tickets.

The installation will feature 600 cels and layouts from Katsuhiro Otomo’s private collection.

At the venue, limited-edition Osaka merchandise will be available for purchase, and the entry privilege that gained attention at the Tokyo venue (galley proofs from the time of the complete works printing) will also be distributed (while supplies last).”

Katsuhiro Otomo’s “AKIRA cel exhibition” takes place at Shinshaibashi PARCO’s SPACE14 and runs from October 6 to October 24. Tickets will be available starting September 25 for ¥1,500 JPY (approximately $10 USD).
